Rob Henson

Rob Henson is an Oklahoma criminal defense attorney with extensive experience representing people accused of serious crimes. Admitted to the Oklahoma Bar in 2008, Rob has handled virtually every type of criminal case from petty larceny to death penalty murder and everything in between. He has tried more than 30 jury and non-jury trials and has substantial experience navigating complex, high stakes criminal prosecutions.

A significant part of Rob’s practice is devoted to defending people accused of sex crimes and other sensitive criminal offenses. He has represented clients facing allegations including rape, sexual battery, child sexual abuse, lewd molestation, forcible sodomy, indecent exposure, offenses involving illegal sexual material, and sex offender registration violations.

Rob understands that sex crime allegations present unique challenges. Even before a case reaches a courtroom, an accusation can threaten a person’s reputation, career, family relationships, and standing in the community. A conviction can result in lengthy imprisonment, sex offender registration, post-imprisonment supervision, and other lifelong consequences.

His approach to these cases is built around careful investigation and trial preparation. Sex crime prosecutions often depend heavily on credibility, witness statements, digital and forensic evidence, medical evidence, delayed reporting, and the circumstances surrounding how an allegation originated and was investigated. Rob scrutinizes those issues closely, tests the government’s evidence, identifies inconsistencies and weaknesses, and prepares serious cases with the expectation that they may ultimately have to be tried.

That trial focused approach extends throughout his criminal practice. Rob has represented clients in misdemeanor and felony cases at every stage of the criminal process, including preliminary hearings, motion and evidentiary hearings, plea negotiations, sentencing proceedings, and trials. His broad experience allows him to evaluate a case not simply by the accusation or charge, but by the evidence the prosecution will actually have to prove in court.

Rob earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1996 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2008. While in law school, he served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Dana L. Kuehn, then a Tulsa County criminal law judge and now a Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court. He also served as Articles Editor for the Tulsa Journal of Comparative & International Law, where he published a comparative analysis of vaccine-injury compensation in the United States and Great Britain entitled Inoculated Against Recovery.

Rob is admitted to practice in all Oklahoma state courts; the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Oklahoma; the courts of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation; and the Cherokee Nation.

He is a member of the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has earned a Martindale-Hubbell Preeminent Rating. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Rob was also a volunteer attorney for ten years at the Owasso Youth Court program.

Outside the practice of law, Rob enjoys spending time with his family. His interests include fishing, spending time at the lake, and hiking.
